About CHEM 105/106 - MediaVision Project

The Introduction to Chemistry - Mediavision project is an approach to undergraduate chemistry instruction that seeks to supplement proven teaching methods and materials with new learning content. This new content will consist of annotated video material recorded during regularly scheduled lectures and review sessions.

The CHEM 105/106 lectures and call-in review sessions will be recorded; encoded; indexed and 'published' to the web where they may be accessed by students using standard web browser software. Once published, students may browse, search or playback any of the recorded information. Student may, for example, choose to replay an entire lecture session or seek answers to specific questions by searching for indexed concepts associated with the video.

The goals of the project are:
1) enhance the student learning
2) evaluate the impact of streaming media content as supplements to the in-class, one-to-one mentoring and self-study experiences
3)adopt promising learning technology standards and best practices to develop re-usable learning objects applicable in a variety of presentation venues
